Class 1 activities for the day

Happy Tuesday Class 1!

Here are today’s suggested activities:

For phonics, please don’t forget to head to YouTube at these times to watch the daily phonics: Letters and Sounds video.

Reception: 10.00 am and then again at 11.00 am if you still need blending support to read cvc words i.e. map and cat

Year 1: 10.30 am

For your follow up reading task, I would like you to play buried treasure. Can you read the words and sort between the real and rubbish words. Year 1 words are on the left and Reception are on the right.

For the Reception literacy activity, I would like you to have a go at writing about what you would like to do during the summer holidays, using the sentence stems:

I want to…
I would like to…

Discuss the kinds of things you might like to do i.e. go to the beach, bake some cakes, do some crafts etc, then have a go at sounding out and writing each sentence using the sentence openers provided. Don’t forget finger spaces and full stops. Here is a frame you can use if you wish:

For maths, I have an ‘I spy’ addition activity for you. Use the I spy sheet to count how many different objects there are. Once you have counted them, write the number in the box next to the corresponding picture. Can you then use resources you might have lying around at home i.e. pasta, pebbles or lego, to add the 2 parts together to find the whole?

For the Year 1 children, I would like you to head over to BBC Bitesize to complete the daily Literacy and Maths session. Today you will be looking at how to tell the time to half past the hour and identifying and creating characters in writing.

For your afternoon lesson, I would like you to have a go at today’s BBC Bitesize PE lesson looking at movement.

When you’ve completed the activity, why not have a go at moving along to this song, following the animal movements. Can you think of other ways different animals move? Can you create an action/movement to represent them?

Have a great day!
