Class 5 Home Learning 29.06.20

Good morning Class 5 – hope you are all doing well and have enjoyed your home learning these past few weeks. I’m glad to be able to set you daily challenges again and have your work and pictures sent to me again 🙂

I have been completing lots of Sudoku puzzles lately to keep my brain active and solving problems so I thought I would set today’s challenge as a Sudoku

sudoku 28.06

If you’re not too sure on how to solve a Sudoku then have a look at this video

Feel free to email your solutions to me on the email so I can share them tomorrow!

For our literacy work this week we will be using an image to inspire different writing tasks. We are going to start with some descriptive writing today and tomorrow. Before we start, try and remind yourself of the techniques we use for descriptive writing, think about adjectives, adverbs, similes, personification, etc – can you think of anymore?
Have a go at this game below and watch this video on Bitesize to get your descriptive writing in full flow again

Now that you have revised some techniques for describing – I want you to create a plan or mindmap for descriptions of the image below. Think about using adjectives, adverbs, similes, metaphors, personification, show not tell (how can you show the author an emotion or type of personality) and also describing the 5 senses (see, hear, taste, touch, smell). Try and gather lots of examples in your plan about the whole picture – you will be using your plan tomorrow 🙂

I look forward to seeing all your examples of descriptions!

For Maths today we’ll have a practise of reading coordinates in the first quadrant, watch this video lesson before you have a go at the worksheet attached below

Lesson 1 – The first quadrant

Here are the answers for you to check your work: Lesson 1 Answers – The first quadrant

For your afternoon activity I thought it would be great to revise our French. We have done lots of revision of days or the week and months of the year – why not find the songs we use on youtube to remind yourself? Then, head on over to BBC Bitesize to further your understanding to now be able to tell what time it is in French! How confident do you feel? Could you ask and answer when someone asks you what time it is? If you want to show off, film yourself telling the time in French and send it to me 🙂

As always, I love seeing what you’ve been up to so don’t hesitate to email me on the class email with any pictures or questions.

Have a good Monday!

Miss P 🙂
