Class 1 enjoyed their very first Forest School session last Wednesday. In the spirit of learning about Bonfire night and how we traditionally spend it, we of course had to enjoy some hot dogs and smores cooked on the fire pit, then we finished off the celebrations with sparklers.
Because of covid, a lot of children hadn’t yet experienced a traditional ‘Bonfire night’, so it was lovely to see the children’s excitement. The children were taught about how to stay safe around the firepit and I was very impressed with their sensible behaviour. We also had time for cooking up concoctions in the mud kitchen and bug hunting with our magnifying glasses.
Next session, the children will be introduced to the wood work tools and how to use these safely, whilst we’ll be using sieves to cook popcorn on the firepit.
Don’t forget to send your child in every Wednesday with warm but old clothes you don’t mind them getting dirty.
Thanks,
Miss Latham
