Friends Update – Notes from the Chair
A Happy New Year to you all!
The Friends had a busy Autumn Term. Thanks to the work of a number of people, both in the background organising and those volunteering to help at events, we have raised over £1100 for our School so far this year. Here are some of the highlights from the Autumn Term’s events.
The Trunk or Treat Halloween event was a lovely evening enjoyed by all who came. The car boots were definitely spooktacular! Thank you to Martine for organising the event and to Alaine for the lovely refreshments which helped to raise £92.
Our commemorative Crudgington tea towels was a fun activity for the children just before the half term break. I think the staff enjoyed creating their self portaits too. A massive thank you to Vicki (our Vice Chair) who organised this and plied her wares wearing one as a cape. It was a huge logistical job which netted us over £300. I hear she is currently dreaming up her next scheme.
The Xmas Fayre was our big fundraiser last term and, despite the weather, over 60 children took part in crafts. A massive thank you goes out to Sarah (our Secretary), Vicki and their army of volunteers who looked after the children, and to those who set up the event and cleared up afterwards. Also, to Jo and her catering skills (the soup was delicious), Martine for organising fabulous raffle prizes, the boys in the Games Room, and to Suzanna (our Treasurer) for organising the stalls. In addition, thank you to ChadStone Accountancy who paid for the craft supplies which allowed us to make a profit of almost £700. Our sales after school added over £50 to this total.
We are looking forward to another exciting term’s fundraising. All of the money we make benefits all the children in the school, such as purchasing new laptops or reading books, so the work we do really does help everyone. However, we cannot do this without parents giving up some of their time to either organise or help at these events. Any time you can give, however small, is really appreciated.
