Dear Parent/Carer,
RE: Parking at Crudgington Primary School
With the support of parents and the local community we have been able to make some positive changes to traffic speeds outside the school and have benefitted from the installation of bollards along the footpaths.
We are continuing to experience inappropriate parking in the bus lane and are receiving reports of people reversing out of the lane onto the main road. I understand that the school carpark and lane have limited space, but we are very fortunate to have parking onsite as many schools do not.
As a reminder, the agreed parking facilities consist of:
- The main carpark at the back of school
- The lane on the furthest side of the school field – not beyond the length of the field
- Parking is available at the Lion Inn each morning and after school – short walk to school
- Parking is available at the triangle – short walk to school
Walking Bus
We also offer a walking bus service on a Monday, Wednesday & Friday. You can drop your child/ren off at the Lion Inn at 8.30am and they will walk the short distance to school supervised by the adult volunteers. You will need to register for this and forms are available at the school office.
We have had two visits to site by the police this term linked to parking in the bus stop.
Parking in the bus stop limits the visibility of traffic exiting/entering the lane and poses a real danger in terms of causing accidents. If the school is aware of vehicles parking in the bus stop details of the vehicle will be passed on to the police.
I readily acknowledge that the vast majority of people park thoughtfully and use the range of parking facilities that the school has to offer. I hope that everyone will be able to support the school community by ensuring they park in the designated areas thereby ensuring the site remains as safe as possible for adults and children.
