On Friday 28th September we will be taking part in the Wear Red For Zach day
Children can come into school wearing an item/s of red clothing – we are asking for donations to go towards this very worthy cause.
Zach Oliver from Broseley in Shropshire is 4 years old and has an exceptionally rare form of cancer (in fact, he is the only child in the UK to have it at the moment). He was diagnosed in May and after a rollercoaster 3 months of chemotherapy and steroids, is still extremely poorly. His tenacious parents have managed to find a possible cure – CAR-T treatment – which has had really good success rates, but is only available in America. Zach meets the criteria for a trial for this therapy, but only if he does not have the next round of chemotherapy, which is due in 6 weeks
Novartis, who produce the drug, have said that they will provide it to him for free and Virgin Atlantic have also agreed to help, but the hospital bed and care necessary in the Philadelphia hospital, for several months over three years, will cost a fortune which his parents do not have.
Zach’s parents have started to raise money, but need to raise another £450,000. The only way they can raise such a sum of money is through a lot of people giving just a little. Donate £1 and wear Red to School on 28th September. Please help by getting your school to Wear Red for Zach. Lady Forester and Zach’s parents have asked schools to let them know you are on board via email to schoolswearredforzach@outlook.com (*)
