Welcome to Class 2’s information page. Here you will find lots of useful information about our routine.
What we do in Class 2:
In Class 2, we aim to have lots of fun through the learning process. The class is made up of both Year 1 and Year 2 children.
Who works in Class 2?
- I am the main class teacher, Miss Latham.
- Mrs Morris supports every morning.
- Miss Wright works with us as a 1:1 support.
Homework is handed out weekly on a Friday. It usually comprises of Literacy and Maths work, although occasionally Science and Topic work will be sent home.
Homework is expected back in on a Wednesday, to allow enough time for the homework to be marked before it is returned.
Reading and spellings
There is an incentive running in class, whereby children can earn stickers if there is evidence of the children having read at least 4 times over the week. This needs to be recorded in their reading diaries and signed. The reading diaries are checked every Friday.
Reading books are changed on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. If you are able to make a note in their diary that your child has finished their current book, this is very helpful. Children are asked to place their reading book and diary in the ‘books to change’ basket.
I also encourage children to read a wealth of text at home. This could range from a child’s comic, an e- book, magazine or book from home, in addition to your child’s reading book.
Spellings are handed out every Friday also. As long as your child brings their spelling book into school on a Friday, we can continue communicating your child’s weekly spelling scores to you. This also helps us to make sure that your child has taken a copy of the spellings home.
Spellings will also be updated weekly on our class page, which you will be able to access.
In Class 2, we have PE on a Wednesday and a Friday. PE kits should be kept in school and will be sent home every half term, so that they can be washed.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to catch myself for a chat in the morning or afternoon.
